You want diverse people groups representative of the entire planet with none left out all gathered around your throne. • PASTOR: Give us a global vision. Forgive us, when our view of heaven is only a reunion of a relatively small circle of our own family and friends. You want a global harvest. • PEOPLE: We want to join our voice, around the throne, with every language spoken on earth offering rapturous praise. You will leave out no remote tribe or people group. • PASTOR: Enlarge our vision, grow our family to include brothers and sisters we have never met. We refuse to allow the claim of the Evil One to stand. May we join you in your vision and mission. The Unreached People Group From Nepal The GURUNG Peoples of Nepal • They were highly regarded as fighters, even to the days of the British control of India. And some joined the ranks of the British army, serving in various parts of the world. • Their religion is a mixture of Buddhism, Hinduism and shamanism. In ancient times, they were pagans practicing animism and a shamanistic form of religion. • Some are now followers of Tibetan Buddhism; others Hinduism. Church of God World Missions/Church of God Prayer Ministries – www.cogwm.org www.praycog.org The Profile … The Unreached People Group From Nepal The GURUNG Peoples of Nepal • Less than one out of every thousand Western Gurung people are Christians today. • In 1997, there were only 23 known Christians among the Western Gurung, but they may number more than 6,000 today, a growth of 270% in 15 years. • The Western Gurung now have a New Testament, first published in 1982. • It is now out of print, the hunger to read it among the Gurung was not sufficient – much prayer is needed to open the eyes of these people. • They number some 628,000. Officially, 71% are Buddhist. Church of God World Missions/Church of God Prayer Ministries – www.cogwm.org www.praycog.org Prayer … • That God would open the eyes of these people. • That their belief in ‘spiritual power’ would lead them to consider Christ, and be open to the powerful working of the Holy Spirit. The Unreached People Group From Nepal The GURUNG Peoples of Nepal • That God would raise up missionaries to this group. • There will develop a hunger among them, for the resources they have – a partial Bible, Christian audio recordings – and more. • Pray for the 6,000 or so Christians, without resources, an established Christian movement – to grow, to be trained, to become strong – and reach their own people.
