History of the change of Earth
 Scientific evidence that organisms and land forms
change over time.
 The Earth’s crust is divided into parts called tectonic
plates.
 Causes climate and geographic change, which causes
creatures to evolve in different ways.
 Some changes are sea level and continental change.
 Charles Darwin, “the father of evolution”, believed all
life was related through a common ancestor, and
evolved through natural selection.
 Natural Selection is the accumulation of helpful
genetic mutations that come together to make a new
species.
 The top rock layer is the youngest and the bottom layer
is the oldest, unless the rock layers have been
disturbed.
 The Fossil Record is the fossils that have been found,
and the information that can be gathered from them.
These fossils in chronological order can to help show
past evolution.
 Fossil Records show existence, diversity, extinction and
change of many life forms.
 Creatures that become extinct due to environmental
changes add to the fossil count.
 The diversity of species by adaptation.
 Creatures adaption include; structure, behavior and
physiology.
 The change enhance survival and reproductive success
in certain environments.
 By observing similarities in organisms you can find the
relatedness.
 System to organize and codify all life on Earth. This is
also called taxonomy.
 Biological evolution helps precisely describe
organisms, observe relationships and construct
evolution trees. It views relationships between modern
organisms and historical examples.

common ancestor.
Fossil records are fossils that are placed into
_____________ order to help show evolution.
Biological evolution is the ________of a species.
_______________is a way to organize all life on Earth.
