TYPES OF ROCKS
Three Types of Rocks-
(Landforms Book Page 10-11)
• Sedimentary- (Like a sandwich) water moves bits
and pieces of rock, which sink and settle. As they
pile up they’re pressed into rock.
• Igneous- (Volcanoes) Rocks melt into liquid from
heat of the Earth and change into other rocks when
they cool
• Metamorphic- (Rub hands together) Heat and
pressure change sedimentary & igneous rocks into
new one

• Earthquakes- The movement of large rock and/or
sliding of crustal plates past each other
• Fault- Where there is a crack in the Earth’s crust ,
where rock is broken and moves
• Epicenter- This is the CENTRAL point on the
surface of the shock waves
• Focus- Where the Earthquake actual happens, where
two crustal plates bump into each other
• Shock Waves- Energy of rocks movement traveling
in WAVES
