Core is English and History
based on Common Core Standards
English will include:
• Wordly Wise 7
• Spelling Practice
• Grammar Packets
• Literature and Novels

English details
• All essays will be drafted and written in class
and sometimes given as homework to be typed.
• Spelling and Wordly Wise are done on
alternating weeks. Spelling is practice only;
WW will be done in class.
• Grammar Packets will be highlighted, annotated
and assigned as both class work and homework.
• Literature text reading will be used for research
and comprehension and linked to writing
summaries.
• Assigned novels will be read in class only.
History Details:
• Focus of 7th grade is the Medieval period from
prior to the Fall of Rome to the Renaissance.
• Cultures include: Mesoamerica, Roman Empire,
Byzantine Empire, Sub-Saharan Africa, Islamic
Empire, Feudal Europe, Feudal Japan,
Medieval China, European Renaissance &
Reformation
• Reports and projects will be done both in class
and as homework using Common Core
standards
• Student projects will be both individual and
group work.
Grading Policy
• All assignments are graded on a point scale.
• Tests are never more than 30% of the class
grade overall.
• All work is required to be completed.
• There is no extra credit given in either class.
• Late work will only be accepted within two weeks
for credit. Late work is half credit.
• Make-up work is the responsibility of the student
to retrieve from the Make-up binder in class.
• Make-up tests must be scheduled for after
school.
