STI/STD Definition
A infection that is passed on from
one person to another person
during sex. Some can be passed on
through skin to skin genital contact
and others through body fluids.
It is important to treat them as
soon as possible and not to spread
them.
Types of STI’s & STD’s

Groups:
1. Viral
2.Bacterial
3. Parasites/Fungal
Viral: (incurable) passed by skin to
skin contact & body fluids.
HPV (Human
Papilloma
Virus)
Vaccine to prevent
spread.
Hepatitis B
affects liver and
spread through
sharing of needles,
too.
Genital Herpes
Treated with
medicine.
HIV/AIDS
Affects immune
system.
Bacteria
Can be cured
with
antibiotics,
but can lead
to sterility if
not treated.
Prevention is
testing.
Chlamydia
Gonorrhea
Syphilis
Parasitic Infections: “a bug”
Pubic Lice/Crabs: Is spread from skin
to skin contact and treatable with
medications.
