The Composting Program at Park

next week!
We need everyone’s help to make
it a success.

At lunch, don’t be
quick to throw
things out.

Once you’re done eating, you need to
separate scraps from your lunch into
compost, recycle, and trash piles.
Here are things you can and can not compost
from a lunchroom
Fruits, Vegetables
Dairy, Meats, Breads
Egg Shells
Fats and Oils (dressings)
Dirty Napkins
Paper Straw Wrappers,
Clean Napkins
Plastic, Metal, Glass

By composting, you reduce trash.
In the lunchroom, just place the
appropriate items in the compost
trashcan.
In the compost bins, food is broken
down by things like
bacteria
and
worms.

Don’t forget, you can also turn it by hand!
Once the compost is turned back into
soil, it can be put back onto the
ground.
The fresh compost is full of
nutrients that will help plants
grow.

1.The first stage is
your food that
you put in the
composting bin.
2. Then when you
put the compost
in the box with
the worms, it will
turn into dirt.
3.Then we put it in
the ground.
