What is it
• Esophageal cancer or

throat cancer is the rapid
formation of cells.
There are two types.
o squamous cell cancer and
adenocarcinoma.
squamous usually affects
the flat plate like cells that
align the neck
adenocarcinoma is a more
gradual process that occurs
in the lower part of the
esophagus.
Causes of Throat Cancer

Treatments
• Radiation Therapy uses high energy beams like gamma

rays that deliver radiation to cancer cells thus killing
the cancerous cells
Surgery removes part of the voice box, the throat, and
lymph nodes (Deep within the neck) so the cancerous
cells no longer multiply
• Targeted drugs take advantage of specific defects in

Chemotherapy is a process which uses chemicals to kill
the cancer cells(Sometimes used along with radiation)
