Thank you for your interest in sponsoring the 9th Annual Dick Aldridge Charity Golf Classic. The
tournament promises to be another successful event and your support is vital in supporting the
lifesaving work of researchers.
Pancreatic cancer is Canada’s fourth leading cause of cancer death and has been identified
by Charity Intelligence Canada as the most seriously under-funded cancer, receiving less than
one percent (1%) of all research and charitable funding. This gap between lives lost and funding
presents an enormous opportunity for donors and corporations to save lives.
Pancreatic Cancer Canada is committed to making a difference in the fight against pancreatic
cancer. Your participation not only provides an opportunity to generate brand exposure and

About The
Dick Aldridge
Charity Golf Classic
We lost Toronto Argonaut, Dick Aldridge, suddenly to
pancreatic cancer in 2004. In his honour and the memory of
others who have died from this silent killer, The Dick Aldridge
Charity Golf Classic was created to raise awareness and to
support pancreatic cancer research.
Each summer, old friends and new, and those who have
recently taken our cause to heart, come together to share
stories and raise much needed funds for early detection and
effective treatment options. The beneficiary of our
fundraising efforts is Princess Margaret Cancer Centre. We
have raised more than a half million dollars at this signature
event and with your support, we anticipate another
successful year.
The Tournament
Date - Tuesday July 23rd, 2013
Time - 8:00 am – 9:30 pm
Shotgun start - 10:00 am
Course - ClubLink’s Emerald Hills Golf Club
Format - Scramble.

OUR MISSION:
•Raise public awareness
• Discover early detection,
effective treatments

• Provide support and
resources to patients
and their families
• 4th leading cause of cancer death
• No known cause, no reliable screening test and few
effective treatments make it the deadliest form of
cancer
• Only cancer with a 5-year survival rate still in the single
digits at 6%
• 75% of patients die within the first year; most within the
first 3 to 6 months of diagnosis
• 4,600 Canadians will be diagnosed this coming year
and 4,300 will die
• Severely under-funded; less than 1% of all charitable
donations support pancreatic cancer research
Our Hope …
• Researchers will isolate a gene so doctors can screen
Canadians at an earlier and more treatable stage
• Canada’s 1st Rapid Diagnostic Centre for pancreatic
cancer at Princess Margaret Hospital will save lives;
doctors will be able to diagnose and provide a
treatment plan within 7 days instead of 2-3 months
• Clinical trials will lead to an effective means to treat
pancreatic cancer at all stages; currently 80% of
patients are diagnosed at stage IV when the cancer
has spread to surrounding organs and lymph nodes
and there is no hope for survival
