Meetings offer patients, survivors and caregivers an opportunity to
receive information about breast cancer issues and resources for
assistance and to fellowship with other survivors
What is the Gift for Life Block Walk®?
A national educational outreach initiative of Sisters Network® Inc.,
implemented by affiliate chapters
Affiliate chapters collaborate with organizations, community groups
and volunteers to promote breast health awareness in the African
American community
Breast cancer survivors partner with registered teams to walk doorto-door to distribute breast health information and resource materials
in a selected neighborhood and to invite residents to a health fair and
block party that takes place after the Block Walk.
The health fair and block party is held at the Block Walk host site.
Activities include free mammograms, breast exams and other health
screenings, fitness exhibitions, live entertainment, prostate cancer
workshop, vendors, food and children activities
The 2013 Block Walk is on Saturday, September 21st. The host
site is the Martin Luther King Community Center, 40 W. 40th St.
