Creating New Pages




Editing existing pages





New pages are copies of existing pages in your new file
Enter page title - NCTCOG.org, create the page, the choose file name
If you have several new pages that need to link to each other create them first and then
link them after they are published
Navigate like a browser or like a file editor
Click edit page and attempt edits below “Print this Page”
Send for Review but be sure to “Notify recipients via email”
Enter Descriptions and send email
Add Documents or Links




Use button to link or highlight text to add or delete links
Internal Documents (#page=x)

External Web Pages be sure to use advanced properties

What are we linking?



For Documents the majority are PDFs, occasionally we can link other types of
files

•File Formats [PDF, 2.0 MB] (A megabyte is roughly equal to 1,000 kilobytes- which can be shown in your file explorer)
•File Size should be limited to 25 Mb, if you have something larger than this please make an attempt to reduce the size of the
file or contact an Administrator for assistance.

•Images have been standardized
•Spelling (F7) and Grammar (no check for grammar so just be cautious )

The purpose of applying this style is to reduce

In situations that you don’t want to use

Guidelines for a good file name?

This really isn’t the I drive: Names or Folders

Good folder structure (try to make them efficient)

“Esto Verbis Vinculis Opere”- let the text that you link do work

Limit number of characters (try 10 or less)

Instead of spaces or “_” use Caps to represent changes in
words (CamelCasing)

E.G. “Hampton+Road+ Virginia+Pilot+-+Final+Report – JN For + JD 613”

Does the page have a title (the one that is shown in the browser title bar) in this
format: descriptive phrase – NCTCOG.org?
Is the title descriptive but relatively short?
