How can Technology be best used
for keeping accurate classroom
records of attendance and grades?





Attendance and grades can be tracked and updated on
computers daily.
Using programs such as Microsoft Excel gives teachers
easy access to grades and attendance.
Also grades can be easily determined with these
programs.
Attendance can be easily determined because it can be
used throughout the year, and keeps a tally of students
absences.
Also when using these programs it is easy to print these
spreadsheets out to send home to parents.
How can technology be used
to increase communication
with parents?





Programs that translate
information into
different languages.
How can a technology rich
classroom environment
increase student motivation.




Technology in the classroom is great for
student motivation.
It puts the world at their fingertips and
whenever they want to know something
they can just type it into a computer.
Technology also makes learning fun and
easy.
Through presentations a teacher can add
color and pictures to any lecture.
Technology Rich
Classroom (Con’t)



Technology makes it easier for
students and teachers to communicate
outside the classroom.
If a student is struggling with
something they can send their teacher
an email for a fast response.
Technology also brings video and
music into the classroom on a daily
basis.
How can technology use help
meet the needs of ESOL
students and students with
special needs.

Technology Meeting the
Needs of ESOL Students…


Talking Electronic Device- Helps by
pronouncing challenging words
SD900- Handwriting recognition, has
real human voice & has an
encyclopedic dictionary
Special Needs
Accommodations

Children who are unable to speak
effectively can use products like the
LinkClassic or LinkPlus to type out
their thoughts which are then
translated into a voice for others to
hear.
Special Needs
Accommodations


“DynaVox”- Has pictures to
help with language/speech
impairment
- Helps with
students who have fine
motor impairments
“Lightwriter”- text-to-speech
Dual Display
Available with large keys
Visual Impairment
Accommodations




Students with visual
impairments may use
keyboards and
computers with large
print.
There are also basic
keyboards that have
keys in different colors.

translates text into
Braille can print out
with a Braille Printer
Audio books available
Hearing Impaired
Accommodations



There is also software like ZoomText that magnifies
fonts and also uses friendly human voices to read
the text out loud to the user.
Another software called The iCommunicator 3.0 can
translate text to sign language.
Amplification System & microphone that teacher
can wear & student has earpiece that amplifies
teacher’s voice
