Music Class 11/6/15
Please get a word web paper.
First person for each row hands
out all the folders.
Do Now 11/6/15
• On the next page of your notebook, write today’s
date.
• Then pick your favorite song (or one song you
really like) and tell me about it. Describe it.
What does it sound like? How do you recognize
it?
• Make sure you use complete sentences
• Use as much detail as possible
• You may or may not include the song’s title…it’s
up to you
• Note to substitute…give them a few minutes to
complete this

• Did you mention the lyrics or what the
song is about?
• Did you mention who sings it?
• Did you mention the instruments used?
• Did you discuss how the song starts out
and what it does later (2nd verse, etc)?

• Set aside your notebook
• Put your name on your word web paper
• The next slide will show the terms you
need to write on your word web, including
their definition
• Note to substitute: feel free to elaborate on
any term or have students give examples

Listening Examples—7th grade
1. On your notebook paper, write the
following title:
– “Three to Get Ready” by Dave Brubeck
2. When the music starts, write descriptive
sentences about the music using at least
3 terms from the word web
3. Note to substitute: click on the song title to start the
song on YouTube. Once it starts, come back to the
PowerPoint so they can see what to write. To stop the
video, you’ll need to end the powerpoint show, then
click on the YouTube video and stop it
Listening Examples—8th grade
1. On your notebook paper, write the following
title:

“Symphony #5” by Beethoven
2. When the music starts, write descriptive
sentences about the music using at least 3
terms from the word web
3. Note to substitute: click on the song title to start the
song on YouTube. Once it starts, come back to the
PowerPoint so they can see what to write. Fade out
and stop after about 3 minutes. To stop the video, you’ll
need to end the powerpoint show, then click on the
YouTube video and stop it

• Put your word web and notebook in your
folder
• Send your folders down the row, last
person puts them away
• Extra time? I left a Bugs Bunny
