History
Galaxy 14 Satellite is for telecommunications and transmission of digital
television developed by Orbital Science Corporation (OSC) for the
PanAmSat Corporation
An important role is for an complete digital delivery of programming in
U.S that is mandated by America's Federal Communications Commission
The satellite was launched on August 14 2005 from the Baikonur
Cosmodrome by a rocket Soyuz
The launch was carried out by the company Starsem , a joint RussianEuropean
The satellite was to be launched the previous day but due to problems of
data transmission countdown was arrested thirty seconds before departure

Launching Information
The Galaxy 14 satellite is the seventh Orbital-built GEO satellite to be
completed and launched
Starsem used the Soyuz version rocket equipped with a Fregat upper stage,
which will perform two successive burns to place Galaxy 14 on its transfer
orbit 1 hr. 37 min. after liftoff from the Baikonur Cosmodrome
The Galaxy 14 satellite was deployed into a transfer orbit about 90 minutes
after lift-off
After several days, Galaxy 14 performed a series of orbit-raising "burns"
of its on-board rocket engine to achieve a circular orbit approximately
22,300 miles above the Earth
Satellite Information
The Galaxy 14 satellite was operated in C-band frequencies from its orbital
location at 125 degrees West longitude
Galaxy 14 has a liftoff mass of 2,087 kg and was be co-located with
PanAmSat's Galaxy 12 satellite at an orbital slot of 125 deg West
It is designed to provide digital video programming, high-definition
television (HDTV) and other fixed satellite services
The spacecraft is optimized for a 15-year design life and will provide
capacity for PanAmSat's satellite network over the continental United
States, Alaska and Hawaii
Cond…
Custom-designed by Orbital Sciences Corporation for PanAmSat, Galaxy
14 is a Star 2 Bus model satellite with 24 36-MHz C-band transponders
Its output is more than double the power of its predecessors(Galaxy 12)
Galaxy 14 is the second in a series of new-generation satellites ordered by
PanAmSat to provide additional power output, increased flexibility and
service availability to its customers
It delivers digital video programming, high-definition television (HDTV),
video on demand and Internet Protocol TV (IPTV) service throughout the
continental United States
This relay satellite provides television signals mostly for the east coast,
including ESPN, Lifetime, Sci-Fi, CNN, A&E and The History Channel
