Heart Analysis
• We need 100mg for analysis of amino acids,
acylcarnitines, and organic acids.
• Heart weight:
– 4wk is between 90-140mg
– 10wk is between 140-200mg
– Are we wanting to do both 4 and 10wk samples?
– Do we want to make RNA from the extra heart
tissue?
Time Involved
• It will take me 1-2 days to prepare 40 samples
from the timecourse animals.
– Pulverize sample after removal from liquid N2.
– Weigh out 100mg of sample.
– Add water and homogenize with polytron.
– All steps are done on dry ice or liquid N2. This is
what uses the most time in the protocol.
• Is this a prelude to performing this study on
the entire F2 cohort?
• Is this still a priority?
