Effects of Cocaine After Usage
 Cocaine’s effect is almost immediate after use.
 The effects are feeling euphoria, energized, and
mentally alert.
 Short term effects on the body include constricted
blood vessels, dilated pupils, increased heart rate,
and increased blood pressure.

Medical Issues
 Cocaine can cause many medical issues but most
deal with the heart.
 Heart complications can include heart attacks and
heart rhythm problems.

Why does cocaine cause heart problems?
 Cocaine acts as a stimulant and pumps adrenaline
through the body.
 The adrenaline increases your heart rate but at the
same time the cocaine constricts your blood vessels.
 This can cause cardiac hypertrophy which is
enlargement of the heart.
 The heart enlarges and the muscle fibers become
thicker and this reduces the amount of blood the
heart can pump and can completely stop the heart
from pumping, leading to a heart attack.
