Aims of the Team
• To facilitate the integration of health into
Children’s Centres.
• To facilitate the integration of health into
Extended Schools
• To support the coordination of health activity
across East Lancashire
• To support the coordination of health activity
across a given locality
• To ensure holistic services are provided to
families

Support the Integration of Health
into Children’s Centres.
• Meet with local children’s centres on the core
offer and provide access to NHS services,
projects, developments, advice and training
to support delivery
• Provide guidance on quality - related to
health, best practice and NHS guidelines.
• Support partnership working and information
sharing with NHS teams
• Promote a clear understanding of the role of
children’s centres amongst NHS staff

Support Health Activity Across East
Lancashire
• Breastfeeding - Little Angels – La Leche
• Shared approach to supporting families with substance
misuse issues.
• Promoting Infant Mental Health and early interventions
• Standardising access to speech and language services
• Standardising the public health role of midwives
• Information sharing -databases, protocols, referrals
• Support service delivery targets that are local, regional
and national

Support the Coordination of Health
Activity Across a Locality
• Link local action into PCT strategies e.g. Obesity, Hidden
Harm, Parenting and Accident Prevention Strategy.
• Ensure national, health related programmes impact on
local populations e.g. Healthy Start, B Sure
• Ensure local health priorities/data are disseminated
across the children’s centres
• Ensure quality guidelines e.g. NICE are implemented
• Ensure agreements are locally appropriate and working
• Promote joint working at local level making good use of
local resources/teams – e.g. Infant Mortality
