Compare to
views of
general public
I hypothesized that views of general participants regarding
methamphetamine abuse will differ from those of expert
participants.
Specifically, general participants will believe that
methamphetamine abuse is more problematic overall
when compared to other drugs.

 Interview: 30 to 45 minutes; 12 open ended
questions.

and survey. Once everything was filled out, they
were asked to mail materials back to the researcher

compare between groups.
Interviews: Similarities or differences in answers.

Alcohol abuse: Part of rural culture
Hindrance:
 Not enough participants
Public events instead of mailing
list: more results
 Broadness of survey
Rank drugs instead of rate
Future Research:
Demographics
Age
Gender
Profession
Influences on public opinion.
Wyoming Meth Project
Media in general: drug use is
dramatized
Harm reduction
Possible alternative to educate
the public about drugs.
I would like to express my gratitude to
my faculty advisor: Dr. Cary Heck, my
graduate student advisor: Kimberly
Wiseman, the McNair Scholars
Program, the University of Wyoming
Honors Program and all who helped
me with my research and academic
goals.
Thank You!
