Some examples of stimulants
are
Amphetamines
 Caffeine
 Cocaine
 Diet pills
 Methamphetamine
 Ritalin

What are amphetamines ?

amphetamines are a type of stimulant

Potential short term side effect of amphetamines
include: *headaches
*increased blood pressure
*increased heart rate
*insomnia
*weight loss
*hallucinations
*convulsions
*heart rhythm abnormalities
*heart attack It stimulates the central nervous system
(nerves and brain) by increasing the amount of
certain chemicals in the body.
Caffeine and red bull

Getting jacked up on coffee, tea, or soda can be
a thrill. The chemical reactions pump you up and
make you feel a little less groggy in the morning
and after lunch, and the drinks taste yummy, too.
For an added boost, you can light up a cigarette.
Unfortunately, these stimulants can bump up
your heart rate and blood pressure and
accelerate both your brain and body. They can
magnify mania, irritate a depressed brain, and
join forces to undermine the efforts of your mood
stabilizers. Because of this, if you have bipolar
disorder, it’s a good idea to limit your exposure
to these over-the-counter mood enhancers.
Cocaine


Despite a popular myth, cocaine does not enhance
performance whether it be on the job, in sports, at
school, or with a sexual partner. On contrary, longterm use can lead to loss of concentration, irritability,
loss of memory, paranoia, loss of energy project,
anxiety, and a loss of interest in sex. The controlling
effect cocaine has on an addict's life can lead to
exclusion of all other facets of life. A habit can cost an
addict thousands of dollars a week to maintain.
Breaking a cocaine habit is not easy. How long and
how difficult a task it may be varies from person to
person. Treatment can be costly and the craving for
cocaine may persist for long periods of time.

Dangers of diet pills
Diet pills have a great potential to help you lose weight and this
can be very appealing, especially if you are someone who has
struggled to lose weight in the past and who is obese, with a BMI of
over 27.
But these advantages should be weighed against the possible
dangers of diet pills including some dangerous side effects.
Before take any diet pill, you should understand what some of the
dangers of diet pills can be.
What are some of the dangers of diet pills?
diet pills dangerous side effects
Prescription diet pills are very strong drugs, and each has the
potential for dangerous side effects. Some of the side effects from
taking prescription diet pills can be dangerous.
Each diet pill has its own set of potential side effects, so instead of
listing every possible side effect here, please visit the pages on this
site that correspond to the diet pill you are interested
Methamphetamine



Today, methamphetamine is second only to alcohol and marijuana as
the drug used most frequently in many Western and Midwestern
states. Seizures of dangerous laboratory materials have increased
dramatically—in some states, fivefold. In response, many special task
forces and local and Federal initiatives have been developed to target
methamphetamine production and use. Legislation and negotiation
with earlier source areas for precursor substances have also reduced
the availability of the raw materials needed to make the drug.(1)
Methamphetamine is a highly addictive drug with potent central
nervous system stimulant properties. In the 1960s, methamphetamine
pharmaceutical products were widely available and extensively
diverted and abused. The 1971 placement of methamphetamine into
Schedule II of the Controlled Substance Act (CSA) and the removal of
methamphetamine injetable formulations from the United States
market, combined with a better appreciation for its high abuse
potential, led to a drastic reduction in the abuse of this drug. However,
a resurgence of methamphetamine abuse occurred in the 1980s and it
is currently considered a major drug of abuse. The widespread
availability of methamphetamine today is largely fueled by illicit
production in large and small clandestine laboratories throughout the
United States and illegal production and importation from Mexico. In
some areas of the country (especially on the West Coast),
methamphetamine abuse has outpaced both heroin and cocaine.(2)
The drug has limited medical uses for the treatment of narcolepsy,
attention deficit disorders, and obesity

ADHD Stimulants and Sudden Cardiac Death
Researchers collected data on stimulant use among 564 children
and teenagers who died unexpectedly of unknown causes and an
equal number who died as passengers in auto accidents. Many of
the unexplained deaths were later attributed to previously
undiagnosed cardiac arrhythmias.
They concluded that the odds of using stimulant medication were
six to seven times greater among the children who died suddenly
of unexplained causes than among those who died in car crashes.
Ten children who died of unknown causes (just under 2%) took
stimulants, compared to two children (0.4%) who died in auto
accidents.
The study does not prove that ADHD drugs cause cardiac deaths.
But lead researcher Madelyn S. Gould, PhD, tells WebMD that the
results highlight the importance of carefully screening children and
teens for heart conditions when the medications are prescribed
In the streets it is called crystal
All this effect teens today mentally,
socially, physically
