MISSION: The alcohol Substance Abuse
Program provides a comprehensive drug and
alcohol program to assist American Indians
and Non-Indians with the opportunity to
resist, reduce and prevent drug and alcohol
abuse.

Prevention is a community-base service, which includes the identification
of persons at risk or developing problems relating to the use/abuse of
alcohol/drugs. Services provided to individuals and /or groups include
alcohol/drug education, the teaching of techniques for decision making and
constructive processes to deal with stress, recreation, social activities, and
cultural activities or events. Community Education is defined as the use of
information, media resources, and skills development group to increase
awareness of community members and employees of institutions, tribal
groups, courts, religious organizations, social agencies and schools.
Problems of alcohol/drug use and abuse, the availability of prevention and
treatment resources, and techniques for motivating an individual into
treatment are stressed.

Treatment Centers instead of incarceration.

Smell of cat urine
Small children between the ages of 2 to 8 are very disciplined, very nervous sitting
by parent(s).
Older children sitting in front room initially, but will eventually ask to go to their
room, also very nervous and disciplined.
Parent(s) wearing long sleeve shirts, in summer months
Friends will frequently come by, or there will be friends staying, hanging around in
the home.
Parent(s) very nervous behaviors and unable to sustain calmness
Parent(s) very thin in stature
Parent(s) having visible sores on face, hands or neck area.

is alcohol addiction?
Alcohol addiction is when a person
exceeds self-imposed “limits” or
they consistently “out drink”
others in social situations.

What are the physical symptoms of alcoholism?






Changes in sleep patterns
Slurred speech
Bloodshot eyes
Unusual weight gain or loss
Neglected hygiene and appearance
Frequent sickness

What are some of the behavioral symptoms of
alcoholism?
Emotional
instability, such as anger,
depression, and mood swings
Disappearing for long periods of time
Smell of alcohol
Hiding bottles for binge drinking

What is Crystal Meth?
Drug
that is highly addictive, harmful and
dangerous.
The effects are:
Increased activity
Decreased appetite
A sense of well-being


As with similar stimulants, meth is used in a
“binge” and “crash” pattern. Because tolerance
for meth occurs within minutes, users try to
maintain the high by using the drug
continuously or binging on the drug.
