Behavioral Health Benefit

Various levels of care


Care managers with ValueOptions approve the
appropriate levels of care based on diagnosis and
ValueOption’s medical necessity criteria. Includes
acute care (inpatient at a psychiatric hospital or a
detox unit); partial day services (combines
intensive treatment in a medically supervised
setting with the opportunity to return to a
residential setting at night); and outpatient
behavioral health services.
Outpatient services are the most frequently
prescribed level of care and are based in an office
setting.
