Resources & Goals
• Budget entire EU-SOL Project: 25.9 M€ (34.5 M$)
• Work Package 5.4, Tomato genome sequencing
(René Klein Lankhorst, Wageningen University)
– Budget: 2 M€
– Goals:
• De-bottlenecking current European tomato sequencing programs
• Sequencing the tomato mitochondrial genome (INTA)
• Development of novel technologies for BAC assembly and closure
(Genome Express)
Resources & Goals, continued
• Work Package 6.1, Tomato genome bioinformatics (Yves
van de Peer, VIB Gent)
– Budget: 1.3 M€
– Goals:
• Train and run a full-featured annotation pipeline
• Build a database for storage of BAC annotations
• Further improvement of the EuGene prediction and annotation
platform
• Further development of genome assembly pipelines
Resources & Goals, continued
• Work Package 6.3, Integrated Solanaceae data resource
and analysis (Heiko Schoof, Cologne)
– Budget: 1.2 M€
– Goals (amongst others):
• Develop tools for visualization, analysis and data mining
• Set up a distributed data resource and analysis platform
• Link the EU-SOL data resource to the international Solanaceae data
resources
Currently approved proposals for
de-bottlenecking
• Italy:
– FISH validation of seed-BACs*
– outsourcing of BAC-sequencing ( up to Phase III)
• Spain:
– Identification of novel seed-BACs
– FISH validation of seed-BACs*
– outsourcing of BAC-sequencing ( up to Phase I)
• Netherlands:
