o Each team has one assigned per round
o 7 rounds
o 32 additional picks are given as compensatory
o 256 slots available

o Determined at league’s annual meeting
o Based on free agency period (loss vs. gain)
o Maximum to gain is 4 picks (one team)
o Can’t be traded

o Based on regular season record and playoff finish
o Team with the worst record goes first
o If expansion team present, they go first
o Coin flip occurs if two teams are tied
o Team that picks first one round will pick last in the next

o 1st Round- Teams have 10 minutes to choose pick
o 2nd Round- Teams have 7 minutes to choose pick
o 3rd-7th Rounds- Teams have 5 minutes to choose pick
o Any team’s draft picks can be traded at any time
o 1st Round is on Thursday night, the others are on Friday and Saturday
o Time expires, team can submit their pick still
