Diazepam (valium) is a benzodiazepine anxiolytic used in the treatment of anxiety disorders, seizures, muscle spasms, and alcohol withdrawal. It is one of the best known benzodiazepines. Valium debuted in 1963 in the U.S. drug prescription market It was developed in New Jersey by Dr. Leo Sternbach These drugs were targeted for middle class citizens The ratio of the people who used it favored two and a half to one in favor of the women Valium is used to treat anxiety, alcohol withdrawl and seizures Also provides sedation before medical procedures A secret use many people do not know of is to use after waking up after a nightmare Schedule Rating- Schedule 2 It has a high potential for abuse It is currently accepted in the U.S. Today Its use may lead to dependence On the street-$2.00 Prescription-$3.00-$4.00 Regular- 2 mg to 10 mg Alcohol withdrawl-10 mg Convulsive Disorders- 2mg to 10mg two to four times daily Valium Overdose -Drowsiness -Confusion -Coma -Slow reflexes -Slows down the activity in the central nervous system -The medicine works as a sedative increasing the GABA chemical in your brain -Slows down the blood flow severely -Valium is very addicting and does not take many doses to get addicted -It leaves many people dependent on it especially when they need to do something to relax themselve -hyperexcited states, anxiety, agitation, aggressiveness, irritability, rage, hallucinations, psychoses, delusions, increased muscle spasticity, insomnia, sleep disturbances, and nightmares.
