recognition celebration
following the “Imagine MUSC
2020: Advancing New
Knowledge & Scientific
Discoveries” event
 Research is one of five
goals built into the
strategic plan
 Communication of
research rose to the top
of priorities at the kick-off
of the Imagine MUSC
2020 strategic planning
event attended by 400
leaders
Legislative Awareness
 MUSC Research Day with Statehouse Caucuses being
developed for August 2016






Goal is to raise awareness and demonstrate accountability for future visits
when there is an “ask”
Demonstrate the benefit that health research has for their constituents as
well as the economic impact of research
MUSC is an innovation hub for the state
Demonstrate what is happening in their backyard and how it benefits the
constituents
Seen as a single step in a series rather than one individual event
Mark Sweatman – this one large event should give all caucuses a taste of
what happens at MUSC then bring them back to something tailored for their
interests such as Alzheimer’s, ADHD, etc.
