Collective Consumerism
• Collective consumerism can be an effective
way for consumers to influence the
production, cake or distribution of a product.
Boycotts
• Boycotts happen when groups of people encourage the public
not to buy certain products in order to draw attention to the
issue about which they are concerned.
Examples of Boycotts
• PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) encourages
people not to eat at a certain fast food restaurant because of
the way the chickens it uses in its meals are slaughtered.
• To only support locally made products.
CTV
• PETA- Animal rights group. It believes to stop consumerism we
must change our ways.
• Don’t drink milk to stop the sale of veal.
• Only buy products that are proven to treat animals with
respect.
• Do not support films or shows that use animals for
entertainment.
More examples of boycotts
• Greenpeace boycotting oil and gas products. (crowd protest at
major event)

the products.

continue to have poor human rights in their country.
