Internationalization
• UNIVERSity

• UNIVERSal knowledge
but…
• Partial Internationalization = Partial Universe
28
Partial Internationalization =
Partial view about the world

BRICS Network University
• BRICS Network University
– Academic exchange
– Collaborative researches
– Common programs (specially for graduation)
• Criticism: BRICS lacks identity
– The best way of creating identity is through:
• Exchange of young students
• Collective researches
30
BRICS Network University
• My proposal for the provision of funds:
– The New Development Bank is being created and
it will have US$ 100 billion in reserves
– The NDB could give every year a small percentage
(e.g. 1% or 5%) of its surpluses to finance:
• i) academic exchanges; and
• ii) collaborative researches in the framework of the
BRICS Network University.
31
Proposal for the BRICS NU
• Financing investments in infrastructure (the
main purpose of the NDB) may not be
disconnected to the provision of funds to
education and researches. They must be seen
rather as complementary tasks in the quest of
economic development.
• It would not imply the reduction of the bank’s
reserves, but only a distribution of its
surpluses.
32
• A Socratic result: the more we have dialogues
with universities beyond the conventional
agreements, the more we will be aware that
we know nothing
• It is the better way to keep learning, teaching,
creating collective knowledge
