Scope of C63 SC7 - Spectrum Etiquette
Subcommittee 7 develops standards
addressing spectrum etiquettes, wireless
coexistence and related standards to
provide new or amended measurement
techniques, protocols or methods and
associated instrumentation and
operational constraints supporting more
efficient spectrum utilization, including
dynamic spectrum access.

New PINS-C Proposal
Measurements of
an Ambient RF Environment
Study Project
Study how the collection of RF spectrum
data can be standardized to facilitate the
sharing of data to examine common
environments in aggregate.
PROJECT STATUS
• PINS-C submitted for consideration
• Jason Coder of NIST to chair the effort.
5
New PINS-C Proposal
Collection of Spectrum Data
• Focused on localized spectrum
monitoring
(i.e., room or building).
• Investigating how having a
standardized data collection
format would impact collection,
sharing, and mining.
• Determining the parameters to be
collected.

Similar Efforts
Collection of Spectrum Data
We haven’t identified duplicate efforts, but there are a few that are
similar:
•NIST/NTIA developing a large-scale spectrum monitoring system.
− For use in making spectrum allocation decisions.
•IEEE 1900.6: “Spectrum Sensing Interfaces and Data Structures for DSA and
Other Advanced Radio Comm. Systems.”
− Specifies spectrum sensing requirements to support IEEE 802.22.
− Defines information exchange between spectrum sensors and their
clients
− Logical interface and data structure
•In June, 2014 the ITU Working Party 1C established a Correspondence Group
on the development of a harmonized format for the collection of IQ data
− Complete an inventory of formats currently being used
− Propose a harmonized format
− Work to be completed in 2016

TITLE
American National Standard
on
Evaluation of Wireless Coexistence
PROJECT STATUS
• Working group has been having telecons every other
week.
• Draft is being prepared.
• Since the November 2014 meeting the draft has
moved from revision 0.30 to 0.35.

SCOPE FOR C63.27
This standard provides an evaluation procedure and
supporting test methods for wireless coexistence and
evaluation of key performance indicators (KPI). The
standard will provide evaluation procedures, test
methods and other guidance necessary for performing
the evaluation.
