sought to modernize their country.

was ultra-religious. Peter wanted to
modernize his country and religion was

Peter the Great’s expansion left a lasting impact on Russia. Much
of the lands he won from Sweden remain a part of Russia. For
example, St. Petersburg is still a part of Russia
