Rationale (the Local COCI)
Rationale (LCOCI)

A Local Chamber of Commerce & Industry (COCI) is
normally a voluntary association whose membership is
comprised of companies, civic leaders, and individual
business people. Its members seek to promote the
interests of business, typically in a broad-based way.


The Local COCI along the EWEC can play crucial role
to encourage the transboundary trade. Their roles are
not limited only to support provincial economic
development but also support cooperation program,
cooperate & promote trade with other cities/countries,
provide education/information support to community,
and coordinate with other COCI.
(Source: the ADB Technical Assistance Consultant’s Report, December
2008)

Therefore, the local COCI capacity building
need assessment is crucial to be addressed
since they can enhance, support and facilitate
public and private sector to develop in their
respective geographical location.

However, each local COCI along the EWEC
have difference capacity. Therefore, the MI
would like to research on this topic in order to
provide a series of capacity building training
programs to enhance their institutional,
organizational and human resource capacities.
Capacity Building is a planned development of (or
increase in) knowledge, output rate, management,
skills, and other capabilities of an organization
through acquisition, incentives, technology, and/or
training
