What career options are open to
you with an economics minor?
Evelyn Anderson
ACU
Will a minor in economics
give me a competitive
advantage in the job market?
Irrespective of which major you have chosen (Human
Resource Management, Marketing, International Business,
Informatics), a minor in economics will only enhance your
job prospect, for economics is considered to be the
progenitor of all business disciplines. Industries that
require a good knowledge of economics, such as the
banking and finance industry, are significant consumers of
IT, therefore Informatics students should find knowledge
of economics a feather in their cap, and they are being
sought after by banks, mutual funds and government
departments such as the Treasury and the ABS.

economics help build their competitive
advantage, for the banking and finance
