Introduction
• Building an audio transmitter and receiver with the use of infrared light
• Infrared (IR) light
• Electromagnetic radiation with longer wavelengths than that of visible
light
• The infrared radiations are transmitted and received by IR LEDs
and phototransistor respectively.
• This project will emphasize the way which music can be driven by IR rays

Components Used
• Infrared LED Emitter
• Infrared LED Detector
• Red LED light
• Operational Amplifiers
• LM386
• NPN Transistors
• 3904
• Resistors
• 10 Ω , 1K Ω , 4.7K Ω, 10K Ω, 15K Ω
• Capacitors
• .01 µF, 1 µF, 10 µF, 220 µF
8 Ω speaker
• Voltage Generator

Transmitter
• Circuit Diagram of the Infrared Transmitter
Sends infrared signals from the audio source coming from the headphone
jack
4
Receiver
• Circuit Diagram of the Infrared Receiver
Receives the infrared signals from the audio source and outputs the data
through the speaker

Summary
Advantages
•
•
•
Observe the transmission of an IR signal to a receiver using an LED.
Show that digital information can be converted to an electrical signal that
is sent to the receiver, then driven through an amplifier-speaker.
Disadvantages
•
•
•
•
Not made for long distance
Noise of the audio output
Future Enhancements
Modify circuit for optimal performance
