Some words to remember:
‘A good PROFIBUS developer
is a PROFIBUS user’
2
Purpose of this training course
‘Learning how to define, develop and market a PROFIBUS DP or PA
product according to the current guidelines.’
During this training course the roadmap from
specifications up to the certification of the end
product is laid out.
We will start with the basics of PROFIBUS. This
is done from the point of view of the end-users.
When a PROFIBUS product developer does not
know the requirements of the end-users, the
product will result in commercial failure……

RS 485 electrical test
Reflection test
The reflection test exposes:
 Long stub lines from connector to RS 485 driver.
 Low impedance filters (parallel constructions).
It is not allowed to have more than
500 mV reflection.
The example on the left is bad!
This test will only be performed
when the device can communicate
at baudrates higher than 1.5
Mbit/s!
5
Certified FISCO equipment
Certification/approval will detail:
Energy storing elements
in the device (C & L)?
Residual L & C on
field terminals
(5 nF & 10 uH).
