Unterrupitble Power Supply (UPS)
Emergency power when mains power fails.
Usually short duration discharge- to power up stand-by power source, properly shutting protected equipment.
Main uses data centers, heavy industrial applications such as electrical equipment or refrigeration, critical
health facilities and emergency response/management.
ENERGY STORAGE COMMON APPLICATIONS
Demand Charge & Peak Shaving
Goal is to offset peaks in highly variable loads, thus avoiding higher demand charges from the utility.
The demand charge is based on the highest capacity required during a given billing period for a 15-minute
interval.
Demand charge can be up to 40 percent of the electric bill and is often the easiest to control and economize
with a battery system.
Load Shedding
System runs on a clock to help utility/grid balance load.
Charges at night off-peak and discharges during peak daytime hours.
Takes advantage of demand pricing to create significant savings.
