Day-Light or Low-Light Corona Camera

Low-light corona cameras started as Near Infrared
Cameras (NIR) 750-1100nm, where corona does
have a very weak signal, the corona signal is
strongest around 320nm in the ultraviolet
wavelengths as can be seen in this graph by CSIR.
Day-Light or Low-Light Corona Camera

There is a digital low-light
or daylight (patented,
exclusive) corona camera,
the CoroCAM 504 with
1x10-18 w/cm2 sensitivity
in menu-selected lowlight
mode.

There are analog lowlight
corona viewer with digital
camera with image and
video clip storage. This is the
Syntronics CoronaFinder
with digital camera mounted.
Day-Light or Low-Light Corona Camera

The Syntronics
CoronaFinder has many
low-light applications
from corona filter, thru
several filters for fire
forensic into the NIR.

Lowlight is defined as
“when the red is out of the
sky on a clear night.” This
is about 3 lumens or when
the streetlights turn on,
most color cameras will
not work / focus below 3
lumens. Working with lowlight, the darker the better.
Some survey companies
prefer to do substations
starting at 4am to see
effect of dew and as load
changes for IR.
