Electrical materials list
Circuit board
 Black and red wires
 Recorder motor
 6v solar cell
 On/off switch
 Knife
 Foam support and doble face tape

The most challenging in the construction of the electrical system was to connect a close circuit with a
switch because we were doing it wrong and without a circuit board once the profesor lease us a
board it was a piece of cake. At the begining we were trying to use another motor and also a direction
system from an r/c airplane but;one the motor requires more amps and the solar cell doesn’t produce
the amount needing and, two the direction was in need of another amount of current so we decide to
quit dealing with the directio and take the course we can.
Mechanical materials list
Toy boat from 1,2,3 store
 Rubber belt
 Recorder electric motor
 Lego shaft and pulley
 r/c airplane direction (not used).
 Knife
 2 pound double face tape

The most challenge work we do at the mechanical system was to attach the motor to the toy boat
and we do it with white foam also the direction that explain again need some current we can’t
satisfied. The other problem in the final design there was no place to put it after hours dealing with it
making fit with the not used power transmission that was a system from a r/c sport utility vehicle we
intended to use.
Propeller material list
Lego shaft, pulley, mount and propeller.
 Power transmission(not used)
 Double face tape

Electrical safety considerations

The electric components are safe onboard
and we use tape to cover all wires. The
solar cell is on top the cabin attach to it
with double side tape and the motor does
not touch the water because is onboard
also.
Mechanical safety considerations

The mechanical safety is on the motor
mounts and propeller mounts in the form
of double side tape, is repetitive because
the boat was simple and with minor
mechanical components.
Passenger transport area

The passenger
transport area was
on th front of the boat
to make balance with
the electrical and
mechanical
components. Made
with white foam with
the exact size of a
large egg, keepin it
safety of all dangers.
Main challenges




The brainstorming of how to do a new and full
solar toy boat from scratch.
Many notebooks sketches but too expensive for
reality and simplicity of the project.
The answer was all ready on the internet of how
things is gone together and but practically
problems always came along the consttruction.
Looking for cost reduction due to the high value
of solar cells decide to buy a brand new simple
toy boat, one solar cell and electric wires for our
nice project.
Main challenge



Our solar boat construction becomes easy with a
lot of foam from my partner and the destruction
of one airplane from past times hobbies.
The electric motor requires more voltage than
the cell can suply. The next thing recycle an old
recorder and use the electric motor, becomes a
major change on our first try.
All put together was in good performance with
direct daylight test and the second boat design
stays as our project.
Team over view
Good balance of work.
 Time less the breaks is 4 hours for the
whole construction.
 Marcos got a lot of recycle parts.
 Marcos buy all the new and connect his
cousin to try his LEGOS.
 OVERALL TEAM WORK!!!

A ONE OF A KIND EXPERIENCE!!
The solar power is the future of the regrowing nature for
our children.
The application of the class make an easy to deal
project. Medium difficulty of inexperience constructors.
Nature’s most real world is the all day contamination of
it’s resources but with little things like this project the
minds of people evolute for good. Focus on thinking if
the decision of going full solar electric cars and houses is
the answer of the two big problems of of universal
knowledge global warming and future generation good
life like now.
Final coments

The joy of doing ourself a solar boat is infinite. Also the
help of nice people becomes a major factor of realizing a
challenge of this magnitude but knowing that anyone
attracts to the simplicity this project make it a real good
experience for the next level of the ecological agriculture
that for Puerto Rico honestly is not a far goal.
Final coments
Integrating simple engineering focus on
renowable energy can be produce on
enviromental friendly agriculture.
 Not an expensive oportunity if the nature is
first.
 This is a definitely course project for sure!!
