• Measures
– Look at Sales by Customers (Numerical)
– Stored in fact tables (physical tables).
– Examples: Sales amount, Shipping amount etc.
• Dimensions

Look at Sales by Customers
Stored in relational tables called dimensional tables.
Example: Product, Time, Geography, etc.
Contains: Attributes, Hierarchies, and Members.
More on dimensions…
• Dimension Attribute:
– Table Column
– Example: Product dimension, ProdName, ProdColor, etc.
• Members
– Actual data value in an attribute.
– Example: ProdName: Bike, Shirt, Bike Stand, Helmet etc.
• Hierarchies
– Formed by Attributes.
– Contain single or multi LEVELS. Example: Color is single level
and Time (Year, Quarter, Month) are multi level
