• Respect the patient as an-other
self-determining, autonomous
human being…an end in
him/herself; not simply or
merely a means to be used to
further personal ends or goals.

• Benefit the patient’s oral health
by:
* educating the patient in the principles of
oral health and the value of oral health.
* providing clinically appropriate care
based on the profession’s standards of
care, the patient’s unique circumstance and
the patient’s intention.
* referring the patient to appropriate
sources for required care unable to be
provided competently.
