What is a rainforest?
The rainforest is a place
where some animals and
plants live. Half of all
species of animals live in
the rainforests. A
rainforest is a hot, misty
area.
Location of Rain Forests
The Tropical Rainforests are mostly
around the equator. They are mostly by
the equator because it gets more sun.
Emergent Layer
The Emergent Layer is a
place where tall trees
emerge out in the sky. It
is also home to many
animals such as the
harpy eagle, monkeys,
toucans, and scarlet
macaw.
Three toed sloth
The three toed sloth is so slow
that algae grows on its fur.
Once a week he or she climbs
down from its home to go to
the bathroom.
Canopy Layer
The Canopy is
the second
tallest layer in
the Tropical
Rainforest.The
three toed sloth
and her babies
live there with
the toucans,
butterflies,
snakes, and
lizards.
Red eyed tree frog
The red eyed tree frog
has red eyes and blue
webbed feet. It lays its
eggs in circular leaves.
the babies as tadpoles eat
the extra red eyed tree
frog’s eggs.
The understory is a
place where it is very
dark. The animals that
live there are the tree
porcupine, jaguar,
snakes, insects, and
frogs.
Understory Layer
Forest Floor
On the Forest Floor there are
armadillos, tapirs, anteaters,
capybaras, and butterflies. There
is much to see in the Forest
Floor.
Deforestation
Deforestation is very bad for the habitat of
the animals of the Rainforest because they
will not survive in any other place in the
world. The people have been cutting down
the trees .Then they put it on fire and then
they grow grass for grazing fields . Also they
sell the wood for lumber.
People of the Rain Forest
The people of the rainforest have
discovered some plants that help us
and they also share it with us.
