Boreal Forest

Climate
 The average tempature range is -65ーF to 80ー
F through out the whole year.
 The annual rainfall for this climate is between
200-750mm.
 They have short, warm, humid summers.
Little snow in long winters but if snow does
fall it can remain on the ground up to nine
months due to little sunlight getting threw the
large vegitation.
Abiotic Factors
 The soil in the Boreal Forest is very
nurtient-poor. Little life grows on this
forest floor, since it is covered by all the
fallen leaves of the disiduous tree,
along with having acids from the
evergreen’s pine needles. The little
plants that grow there are lichens and
some mosses.
Dominant Plants
There are only four dominant plants in
the Boreal Forest and those are the
Larch, Spruce,Fir, and Pine. But the
Taiga has Birtch, Aspen, Willow, and
Rowan as a dominant plant.
Dominant Animals
Bears, Wolverines, Woodland caribou,
American black deer,owls, eagles, foxes
weasles, lynx, wolves, are the main
animals that can withstand the harsh
conditions of the Boreal Forests.
Geographical Distribution
61 degrees north latitude and 113
degrees west longitude
Impact of Human Activity
Humans have been cutting down the
Forest in Siberia since the fall of the
Soviet Union. Less the 8% of Boreal
forests are protected. And 50% have
been given to logging industries.
