Worms !
Earthworms are animals without
bones.
Worms are invertebrates.
Earthworms live in the ground.
Their homes are called burrows.
Earthworms are long and thin.
They have mouths.
Earthworm bodies are shaped like
tubes. Their bodies are made up
of more than 100 rings.
Strong hairs on the worms body help
them hold on to the dirt so they can
move. The hairs are called setae.
setae
This earthworm is almost as wide
as a man’s finger.
Earthworms eat dead plants,
seeds, roots, leaves, and stems.
Adult earthworms use their
mucus to make a cocoon. A cocoon
is a safe place to lay eggs.
The eggs hatch. Little
earthworms come out.
