- banana-like plant to 1.2 m long. Leaves are green, oblong, to 1.8 m long and
to 30 cm wide. Inflorescence is erect and sessile; bracts are to 20, overlapping,
2-ranked, deep pink to pale crimson-cream at the base and with greenish
edge. Flowers are white with dark green tips.

Perennial, stoloniferous herb, to 1m tall.
Leaves are alternate, ovate to oblong-ovate, to
8cm long, with pinnately cleft margins. Leaf
surface is felty gray beneath. Flower head is
about 2.5 cm across, in loose terminal
corymbs. Disc and ray flowers are yellow. Fruit
is a somewhat winged, nearly cylindrical, ribbed
achene.
