Abiotic factors
Can live through long periods of draught and dry soil.
They actually can grow well in sandy areas
Only needs 12 to 15 inches of rain per year
Special Adaptations
Can live without rain during the dry seasons in the savanna.

Grows in open areas in warm climates
Because of dry soil it has a deep root system to find water to survive

Because of it’s root system it can survive flooding and very windy conditions

Best located in the heavy soils of termite mounds since this soil is
aerated and moist.
Likes rocky, moist volcanic sand, by riverbeds and swampy areas.

Termites can’t eat this wood.
Jarrah Tree

Grows in gravely soil.
Can also grow in sand.
It can live in places where it
is dry.
Special Adaptations
Lignotuber – this is
something the tree grows
under itself which makes it
grows back even after a fire.
It has long roots to get to
water when it is very dry
out.

Wooly, small hairs on stems makes is
taste funny so animals don’t like to
eat it.
The hairs hang on to water so it live
in dry areas.

Needs very moist soil so it grows by riverbanks.

Animals don’t pick and eat the seeds because they cause bad hiccups.
The roots grow very long so it can get a lot of water.
The leaves drop off when it is dry to help it save water.

Needs little water so it lives where there is not much rain.
It gets a lot of sun light.

Can live in places where it gets really hot and really cold.
It has really long roots so it can get water when it is very dry.

Tree lives in very dry soil and can also live in very wet soil after the rainy
season.

Stinging ants can live in this tree and they protect it from animals that try
to bother it by.
