How do animals survive?

Describe how animal adaptations
help the animal to survive in its
environment.
How Rattle Snakes Survive
This is how rattle snakes survive. Rattle
snakes live in deserts, prairies and forests. When
a rattle snake’s tail is rattling means that’s enough!
Don’t get too close! Rattle snakes eat rabbits and
reptiles like lizards. They catch their prey with
venom in their fangs. This is how a rattle snake
survives.

This is how giraffes
survive. Giraffes live in
and around the Sahara
desert. They always need
to be around trees.
Giraffes can run 35 miles
per hour - 56 kilometers
per hour. They need a long
neck for reaching tree
tops and long legs and
heavy hooves for kicking
and running away from
enemies. That is how
giraffes survive.

survives. Some cats live
outside. Cats have
retractable claws. They
have keen senses, sharp
claws and the ability to
jump and climb. These
are features that cats
use to protect
themselves from
enemies. People feed
cats and they need
fresh water every day.

Bears Survive

This is how a polar bear
survives. Polar bears are meat
eaters. They have special
features to keep them live in
the Arctic. Polar bears hunt
seals, walruses, small whales
and fish. Polar bears blend in
with the snow to hunt seals.
Their thick fur and a layer of
fat keep them warm. Small
ears lose less body heat. Their
feet on the bottom of them
keep them from slipping on ice.
Webbing between their clawed
toes helps them swim. That is
how a polar bear survives.

Rabbits are fast and can

enemies especially humans.
Rabbits eat a lot of grass
and other plants and chew

It has retractable
claws and sharp teeth

and fish. Tigers live in
Asia. Tiger tails can be

pounds. Tigers eat by
using sharp teeth. This
is how tigers survive.

the snow. A snow leopard
weighs about 90 pounds. A
snow leopard is 5 feet long.
The snow leopard has cream
colored hair. A snow
leopards protects itself by
camouflaging in the snow. A
snow leopards does not roar
like a lion but purrs like a
cat. A snow leopard hunts
its food by hiding behind
trees and hiding behind
rocks. The snow leopard
also eats fish and birds.

needs big eyes so he

feathers. Peacocks don’t
have many animals
enemies. Peacocks eat
insects, worms, seeds,
small snakes. They eat
with their beaks. That’s
how a peacock survives.
