Plant Poster Project
Working together to understand xylem,
phloem and photosynthesis!
Plant Poster Project
Each table group will create a poster of a tree (it
can look like any tree but will include important
information on the trunk and leaves.)
In the trunk, include strips of information about
xylem and phloem, and show the direction of
movement in these tubes.
In the leaves, include facts about photosynthesis
and plant organs.
Materials
You will receive:
1 white construction paper for the background
1 sheet of green leaves for writing facts.
1 blue strip for xylem, 1 pink strip for phloem
You may use:
markers, crayons, coloring pencils, scissors, glue
sticks, tape, your imagination!
Materials continued
Textbooks – From Bacteria to
Plants
Laptops – be smart about your
research
Student study guides
Word Wall
Names
Write the first and last names of all three people,
and the period #, in the TOP LEFT CORNER.
Here are some ideas to create your
tree…
Write xylem facts on
the blue strips, and
phloem facts on the
pink strips. Make an
arrow tip to show the
direction the
materials flow.
Write as many
facts as you can
about
photosynthesis, life
cycle, functions of
plant parts, etc.
on the green
leaves!
Then cut them
out.
Example leaf
Draw a tree trunk.
Arrange the leaves
where you want
them to go.
Check the
arrangement
before gluing!
Add roots
and grass
line.
Add xylem and phloem facts.
Glue on the
xylem and
phloem facts,
in the correct
directions.
Glue on the leaves. Add branches.
Color in the
tree, sun,
grass, sky,
etc.
Neatly label
parts of the tree
and things that
are needed for
photosynthesis.
Be ready to turn
in your poster at
the end of class!
Make sure your
poster reflects
work you are
proud to turn in!
Who is doing what job in the group?
Everyone should be working on the
details of this project
You will present your work
Everyone uses their notes and handouts
to contribute ideas.
Everyone helps to cut, glue, color, etc.
