Science Fair Project
Clouds and Weather

Class 707
Introduction
Weather is apart of our everyday
lives. It’s something that needs to
be monitored because weather can
change in the blink of an eye like
what’s going on in the North Pole
with greenhouse gasses and global
warming.
Background Information
• To start off, clouds and weather are apart of our
everyday lives. We have to acclimate to the changes of
weather, and the weather causes us to change what we
wear everyday.
•
Clouds are a group of tiny liquid water droplets
hanging in the air. There are a plethora of types of
clouds and they can either bring precipitation or just a
nice day. Cirrus or cirro (prefix) are wispy, feathery,
transparent clouds made of ice crystals that range high
altitude. Another type of cloud is cumulus or cumulo;
they are puffy clouds that range middle-altitude. In
addition, nimbo or nimbus added to the front of a cloud
name means rain cloud. Lastly, there is the stratus cloud
which is what we see on a daily basis. They are sheet
like clouds ranging low-altitude.

Weather is the conditions of the atmosphere at a particular time
and place. Weather changes when a new air mass
moves over your area. There are four types of air
masses. One of those types is called maritime tropical,
air mass that forms over the ocean near the equator with
warm and moist air. Maritime polar is the complete
opposite of maritime tropical. Another type of air mass is
continental polar, which air mass is dry and cool. Lastly,
continental tropical is the fourth air mass with a warm dry
climate.

In conclusion, weather is apart of our everyday lives.
It’s something that needs to be monitored because
weather can change in the blink of an eye like what’s
going on in the North Pole with greenhouse gasses and
global warming.
Problem and Hypothesis
• How do clouds and weather relate to
global warming?
– Clouds and weather relate to global warming
because they are the effect of it. Greenhouse
gasses are polluting the air and making the
weather and clouds react to it with natural
disasters and storms.
Purpose
• The purpose of this inquiry is to
explain what weather can bring us
on an everyday basis, and how
weather instruments are used to
record down weather factors.
Weather Instrument
• The instrument I chose was a barometer.
A barometer measures air pressure which
is the measure of the weight of air
pressure pressing down on a given area of
Earth’s surface. The units used for air
pressure is millibars.

March 6th through 10th
Analysis
• From the graph you can obviously see that the
temperatures slightly increased until march 10th,
which is where the temperature dropped 12
degrees.
• Using the data table you can see that on the
coolest days it was raining so that could have
been a factor to the temperature.
• Also, from the table you can see that on the
warm days, the sun was out shinning and pretty
bright, which can be a factor to why the
temperature warm.
Conclusion
• Conclusion
• Weather is apart of our everyday lives and
we need to keep track of it so we can
acclimate to its changes. We can keep
track of weather using the different
weather instruments.
