Cirrus: description—thin, wispy (curly)
shaped clouds
– Form @ high altitudes; indicates strong winds;
indicates a change in the weather
Cumulus: description: white, puffy
– Puffy clouds w/flat bottoms; form when warm air
rises; indicate fair weather

– Cover large areas; form in layers; fog is this type of
cloud only it is located near the ground instead of the
sky; can cover/block the sun; continuous rain comes

Cumulonimbus: description—tall, anvil shaped
clouds
– Tall, puffy clouds w/flat bottoms that rise high into the air
(often called anvil shape); produces thunderstorms
