Intelligent Co-Creation and
Collective Innovation in Design
ICT 19: Technologies for Creative Industries, Social Media and Convergence
Proposers:
Dr. Tuba Kocaturk (University of Liverpool), Prof. Dr. Johan Verbeke, Dr. Burak Pak (KU
Leuven),
Where we see the main challenges?
•Technology is shifting the traditional value creation process in creative
industries through the involvement of users, beneficiaries and other
stakeholders in the design of product or services. How to facilitate this
co-creative process and manage new content through new
technologies?
•Dealing with the social, cognitive and technical complexities of
ubiquitous computing and multiple platforms requires new attitudes,
new content, new business models in creative industries.
•Design is shifting from the creation of static objects (buildings, objects)
to designing intelligent, adaptive and personalized products. How does
this impact the dynamics of co-creation and co-ideation process?
•Designers need new approaches to acquire and create meaningful
interpretations of data/information available to them and new methods
of interacting with information and users digitally.
How to address these challenges?
PROJECT AIMS
What is
Innovative
about this?
What value does this
bring?
Technologies to
Explore
1. Engaging
user/consumers in value
creation across the whole
design process and
engaging them with
requirement analysis, brief
setting and testing
Mass-innovation,
Co-ideation,
Co-design,
Co-creation,
Co-delivery,
Collective design
intelligence
A distributed, interconnected endusers who can impact upon
traditional value creation and
provide new resources within
creative industries (focus on
architecture and product design)
New technological platforms
for authoring, producing and
distributing media across
multiple platforms;
interoperability
2. Building the intelligent
and adaptive interfaces for
the co-creative process
Agile design
development,
Embedding
technology into the
co-creative process
Assist, facilitate and simplify any
co-creative process for creating
and accessing diverse forms of
creation and/or simulations
Intelligent – adaptive
interfaces; cloud computing;
interactive technologies; 3D
augmented, simulated reality;
visual computing; HCI
3. Capture, interpret and
use the meaningful design
data/information and make
it accessible and useable
for businesses (designers)
and consumers/users
Building New and
Intelligent Content,
Exploring new ways
of creating and
accessing content
Acquiring and interacting with
meaningful Data/Information
profiling users’ tastes,
behaviours, habits, and metadata
about a whole range of creative
works – beyond the conventional
conception of “content”.
Collecting data/info through
audio, video, gestures,
haptics, etc.; Data
management; Machine
learning; privacy and security
