Introduction
Deforestation is the process whereby natural
forests are cleared through logging or burning,
either by using a timber or to replace the area
for alternative uses.
 Examples of Deforestation include; Conversion
of forestland to farms, ranches, or urban use.
 The act of deforestation can be very harmful to
the existence of ecosystems and it can greatly
affect biodiversity.

Facts About Deforestation





About half of the world's tropical forests have been
cleared (FAO)
Forests currently cover about 30 percent of the world’s
land mass (National Geographic)
Forest loss contributes between 6 percent and 12 percent
of annual global
carbon dioxide emissions (Nature Geoscience)
About 36 football fields worth of trees lost every minute
Facts about deforestation…..




Deforestation poses a big threat to plants and
animals that live within the forest.
Because of deforestation trees are being cut,
this affects all the environment.
Because many animals are herbivore when
the trees fall their food sources are limited
and most of them may die. Carnivores are
also affected because when some of these
animals die of the lack of trees the carnivore
don’t have enough animals to feed on.
It becomes more difficult for both of the
species to survive
Factors






The WWF reports that half of the trees illegally removed
from forests are used as fuel.
Some other common reasons are:
To make more land available for housing and
urbanization
To harvest timber to create commercial items such as
paper, furniture and homes
To create ingredients that are highly prized consumer
items, such as the oil from palm trees
To create room for cattle ranching
what is deforestation?
First what is deforestation?
 It’s the processes where natural forests are
cleared through logging or burning to use the
timber or to build something else for alternative
uses

How deforestation affects biodiversity..
1. When the deforestation increases
species are most likely to extinct.
2. According to NASA’s website “Losses
of species of animals in the rain forests
have a huge impact on animals and
humans in the future.”
3. Deforestation causes animals to lose
their habitats which means they have to
adapt to a new environment.
Solutions of deforestation on
biodiversity.
1. Climate plays a huge role of
why and where an animals lives.
2. Biodiversity is so important it
should be cherished no
destroyed and built upon.
3. If we keep on not taking
care of those forests soon this
environment will collapse and
there wouldn’t be space for
those animals and plants..
When the deforestation increases
species are most likely to extinct.
 According to NASA’s website “ Losses
of species of animals in the rain forests
have a huge impact on animals and
humans in the future.”
 Deforestation causes animals to lose
their habitats which means they have
to adapt to a new environment.

There for to protect the biodiversity and
the environment, you have to do
something about the species dying.
 You have to try and see cures that can
stop deforestation. You cant just leave
them like this; the environment is being
destroyed every day.
 By the time you grow up you wont see
some of those species anymore and you
wont see the beauty of earth so you must
try and protect it

The protection of these animals and plants
are very important because by the time you
grow up, these species may be extinct
because we don’t care enough to try and
help.
 Their extinction will cause problems and the
chance of finding new species will be very
hard.
 You have to try your best to protect those
animals and plants to maintain earths beauty
and the biodiversity that lives in it..

Conclusion
We should conclude after this that Deforestation isn’t
only a natural effect, yet humans play a huge role by
burning down trees and by bulldozing them down.
 This process could be reversed by many things.

Answer

Loss of species: Seventy percent of the world’s plants
and animals live in forests and are losing their habitats
to deforestation, according to National Geographic.
Loss of habitat can lead to species extinction. It also
has negative consequences for medicinal research
and local populations who rely on the animals and
plants in the forests for hunting and medicine.
