Endangered
Species
Angela Geng E7-1
What is an Endangered Species?

An Endangered species is a species of organisms that are in
danger of becoming extinct because of decreasing numbers of
them, a threatening environment for them, or too much
predators. This is a serious real world problem because it can
affect other living organisms.
Some already extinct animals are the Dodo bird, Maryland
Darter fish and Red Colobus Monkey.
How Does this Problem Affect Us?

Most of the animals are important to us because they are benefits to us
and all species depend on one another. for our future and the food chain
balance. The negatives is that some species might not have any prey and
they might starve to death and cause diseases that can affect other species,
and it damages the food chain. It harms us because it will affect humans if
we catch that disease and spread it, and we will be living in an unhealthy
environment. The other problems it may cause is extinction of other
species and bad pollution for the environment like dirty water, bacteria in
food and air.
Solutions

Some scientists tried to produce first stem cells from an
endangered animal to hope for increasing population of that species
but it did not work out very successfully. The scientists started with
normal skin cells and produced first stem cells, and it made it
poosible for a time to improve the population of some endangered
species, and saving them from distinction.
After noticing that the white Rhino had a low genetic diversity,
they could produce unhealthy animals, so this solution was not the
best solution for endangered animals.
Statistics
There are 801 species that have been extinct and it has affected many
other species. After some species died, other species did not have enough
food and prey so they were sick and many died. It caused food chains to
break a little and some animals did not have a stable environment to live in.
This is a graph of Endangered Species Graphs.
Possible Solutions
The main and most improtant solution is habitat protection for our
endangered species because no species can live wthout a home. We need
to find a stable environment for the species to live in and try to keep them
safe and healthy.
This is a successful solution because many species of organisms like the
Aleutian Canada Goose, which was endangered in 1967 with only 790 birds,
and now after protection from the Alaska Maritime National Wildlife
Refuge’s creation in 1980 for a stable environment for the endangered
species, there were more than 60,000 Aleutian Canada Goose in 2005.
This was a very good solution because more than 110 species of animals
have recovered today.
What Will be the Result if This
Problem ISN’T solved soon?

If we do not take this world problem seriously then it will
cause other species to be extinct and then at the end,
humans might be in danger because of an polluted
environment and surroundings of diseases. The food
chain will collapse and break, and this will be bad for the
future. So we should try to help and protect the
endangered species for a better future, because all
species depend on one another to survive.
