Eyes
Whiskers
Nostrils
Mouth/Teeth/Tongue
Feet/Nails
Tail
Before moving on, determine if your rat is male or female and have your teacher
verify this.
Rat Dissection
You may need to pin your rat at this
time.
This would need to be done at the
wrist and ankle regions.
Refer to the diagram to see the path
you will need to take to remove the
skin from the abdominal and

Rat Dissection
Do not cut too deep. You
only want to remove the
skin from the muscle.
If you cut too deep you
will cut through the
muscle and into the
abdominal and thoracic
cavities.
You will see a thick brown
liquid if you cut too
deep.
REMOVING SKIN
Rat Dissection
You will need to
pin the skin out of
the way for the
rest of the lab.
